Why business is a marathon…not a sprint!

Last week, our wonderful Office Manager Tanya ran her first ever marathon, in Newport. 

Tanya from Answer My Phone, running a marathon!26 whole miles.

And she smashed her 5-hour target, finishing in just 4 hours 50 minutes. 

We are so proud of her! 

Not just for the marathon itself – but because just 2 years ago, Tanya was NOT a runner. At all. 

Couch to 26 miles in 2 years is impressive, by anyone’s standards. 

Because you don’t get to 26 miles overnight... 

Finishing a marathon takes huge commitment. Huge consistency of action + behaviour. Huge mental focus.

It’s easier to stay in your warm bed, than to run on a cold, dark morning. 

When your whole body screams with aching pains, it’s easier to stay on the sofa than to push yourself on. 

Honestly? I don’t think I could do it.

But Tanya did.

Not just once – but every day, for two whole years.

It’s rather like running a business, really.

• It’s SO much easier to do what we’ve always done, than to risk investing in that new marketing campaign (that might not work).

• It’s easier NOT to hire that new member of staff, than to risk our hard-earned cashflow on their salary.

• It’s easier NOT to set big goals & have a big vision, but to settle with where our business is now.
